Vinod Kumar

Principal Economist at Econ One Research (Ex Economic Expert at CCI)

Mr. Vinod Kumar has experience of around a decade in competition analysis in various jurisdictions such as India, Europe, and the United States. Prior to joining Econ One, he was an Economic Expert at the Competition Commission of India (CCI). In that role, Mr. Kumar was responsible for analyzing proposed mergers and acquisitions to evaluate the likelihood that a proposed combination would have an appreciable adverse effect on competition.

Mr. Kumar also provided the Commission with economic research and analysis on various industry sectors.
Mr. Kumar also has significant consulting experience in India. As an economist at Nathan Economic Consulting India Pvt. Ltd., he was responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated analytical methodologies for both competition and other consulting engagements. His litigation work spanned numerous industries including multiplex operators, cement, broadcasting, energy, apparel retail, and banking. His consulting work involved developing economic models for a large microfinance institution to assess risk. He also was involved in developing models to measure cricket player performance under pressure to provide real time analysis to coaches and players.

Mr. Kumar has done his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA-Level 1), from CFA Institute, USA, and his M.S. in Financial Economics, from Madras School of Economics, Anna University. He has previously worked at Mavens Economic Consulting, Nathan Associates and Roulac Global Places.
